Roman Polanski arrested in Switzerland
People, Wednesday, February 08, 2012 09:56:16Renowned film director Roman Polanski was arrested by Swiss authorities in connection with an international search warrant issued by U.S. authorities in 2005, AFP reported.
Expected to be extradited to the U.S. where you have to serve a sentence that in 1977 had sex with a 13-year-old girl. In an official release of Justice Department of Switzerland said that Polanski was arrested Saturday when he arrived in Zurich to attend the festival, which was to be awarded. In 1977, Roman Polanski was found guilty by a U.S. court for sex with 13-year-old Samantha Gaymar. Because awarded him life imprisonment in 1978, Polanski left the United States and then resides in voluntary exile in France. Since then, Polanski has not set foot in the States where you can be arrested immediately. In 2003 he won an Oscar for his film "The Pianist", but missed the ceremony because of the charges.
