Authorities of the Maldives, worried about climate change, have decided to introduce a new environmental tax on tourists visiting resorts, Reuters reported. Almost a quarter of GDP in the Maldives are formed from the tourism industry.

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to our planet, reported local authorities. If global average temperatures continue to rise will increase the number and intensity of natural anomalies - floods, storms, heat waves or droughts. The rise in global sea levels will wipe from the face of the planet hundreds of species and countries such as Maldives. World Health Organization reported that year as a result of any manifestation of climate change, killed 150,000 people. Developing countries first and hardest hit will suffer, but Europe will also be affected.
